Dorothy J. Dickson

Dorothy J. Dickson, age 88, of Iron River, MI, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Northstar Health System, Iron River. She was born January 24, 1927 in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Mannie and Anna (Engstrom) Carlson. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1944. Dorothy married Marvin Dickson on December 18, 1948 in Crystal Falls, MI, and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a very social individual, enjoying spending time with friends. She was an avid reader and loved her flowers, especially her African Violets. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin on January 18, 1987, sister, Joyce Magray, brother-in-law, John Magray, and grandson, Michael Dean Cottenham. She is survived by her son, Donald Dickson of Iron River; daughters, Carolyn Cottenham of Iron River, Debra Dickson of Waterloo, WI, and Linda Dickson of Waterloo, WI; grandson, Ronald Cottenham of Iron River; nephew, John Magray; extended family and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Dawn Treado Green to officiate.Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
