Dorothy Kalata

Dorothy A. Kalata, 79, Shawano, WI (formerly of Iron River), passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at her home. She was born March 9, 1934 in Iron River, the daughter of the late Axel and Isabel (LeDoux) Benson. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School. Dorothy married Robert Kalata on November 28, 1970 and the couple celebrated their 42nd anniversary in 2012. Dorothy was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed bowling, sewing, knitting, baking and decorating cakes. She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Kelly (Shannon) Schoepke of Shawano, WI, Jean Puskala (Dave Cimerelli) of Iron River, and Julie (Warren) Harris of Manistique, MI; brother, Jack (Leona) Benson of Iron River; sisters, Betty Gorieski of Benton, MI and Bonnie Christensen of Terra Haute, IN; six grandchildren, Michelle, Michael, Alicia (Josh) Benson, Austin, Shandra and Brennen; three great grandchildren, Avery, Alex and Isabelle. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Benson. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the Jacobs Funeral Home, with Dorothy 's nephew, Rev. Wayne Christensen to officiate.
