Dorothy I. Sarber

Dorothy I. Sarber, age 85 of Iron River, MI, died Sunday April 5, 2009 at the Northstar Health System , Iron River. Born: September 30, 1923 in Caspian, MI The daughter of the late Pasquali and Marija (Kruzich) Shubat attended the Stambaugh schools, graduating in 1942. Dorothy married Robert E. Sarber on June 28, 1947 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1997. Bob preceded her in death on September 5, 1998. She was a member of St Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and the Croatian Fraternal Union. She enjoyed working puzzles and word search and loved spending time with family and friends. She was also preceded in death by brothers Anton and George Shubat; sisters Lillian Kracmer and Mary Masnjak; and grandson, Derek Saylor. She is survived by her son, Richard (Ellen) Sarber of Menasha, WI Three daughters; Kathy Saylor of Iron River Beth Sarber of Milwaukee, WI Lynn Sarber of Portage, MI One sister-in-law, Joyce Patricia (Joe) Boylan of Ocala, FL Two grandchildren; Shane (Julann) Saylor Marija (Joe Smetak) Saylor One great grandson, Ace Step-grandchildren; Alexandrea, Willard, Timothy, Petunia, Abraham, Elizabeth and Nick. Step-great grandchildren and step-great great grandchildren Special nieces and nephews Visitation: Wednesday April 8, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Wednesday April 8, 2009 at 12:00 noon at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Norman Clisch Pastor to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
