Douglas “Doug” A. Damp, age 79, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, MI. He was born on May 17, 1943, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Harvey and Isabel (Thiel) Damp. He graduated from Messmer High School in Milwaukee. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Doug was employed as a radio announcer by WIKB of Iron River for over 30 years, retiring in 2005, due to a stroke. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River. Doug was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed playing Bingo. He also had a good sense of humor and liked to make people smile. Doug is survived by his sons, Kevin (Charlene) Damp of Kingsford, MI and Scott Damp of Iron River, MI; brother, Richard (Rose) Damp of Green Bay, WI; three granddaughters, Marylynn Damp, Madeline Damp, and Julia Damp; extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Christopher Damp. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, with Rev. Raju Jose to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iron County Medical Care Auxiliary.
