Earl Smith

Earl Smith, age 86, Tipler, WI died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. Born February 14, 1922 in Tipler The son of the late Lewis and Molly (Reid) Smith attended the Tipler schools and Florence High School. He was a U.S Army Veteran serving during WWII. Earl married the former Eileen Shannon on November 29, 1945 at Maple Grove Baptist Church of Tipler and the couple celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2007. They were lifelong residents of the area. Earl was the owner/operator of a restaurant and grocery store called ""Mr. Earl's"" for several years and the couple also operated Eileen's Foster Home for over 26 years. He was a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and also enjoyed reading and watching old western movies. He was also preceded in death by brothers; Raymond, Merle, Lewis, and Veeser, and sisters; Elizabeth, Nova, Iva, Cora, and Beulah. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Two sons, Rick (Lorena) Smith of Iron River, MI Jerry (Nancy) Willis of Molene, IL Three grandchildren; Erik Smith Nikki (Jeff) Lambert Renee Willis Three great grandchildren Two great, great grandchildren Nieces and nephews Visitation: Saturday, February 23, 2008 from !2:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Heath of the Maple Grove Community Baptist Church of Tipler to officiate. Interment: Martin Cemetery, Tipler, WI with services to be held in the spring. The veterans will accord Military Rites. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
