Edward Kruit, age 94, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born July 20, 1927, in Highland, IN, the son of the late John and Effie (Veenstra) Kruit. Edward married Ruth Froehlich on April 17, 1948, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Wausau, WI. The couple celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in 2017. Ruth preceded him in death on April 24, 2017. He was employed at DuPont in northern Minnesota and Chicago IL, and later Edward became the plant operator at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, IL. He managed and coached little league teams and Boys Brigade and was very active in youth activities for his churches throughout his time. Edward was a member of the First Baptist Church in Iron River. He enjoyed watching Westerns and any type of ball game, but most of all, he loved laughing and spending time with his family. Edward is survived by his sons, Edward J. (Elizabeth) Kruit of Arlington Heights, IL and Paul (Lori) Kruit of St. Charles, IL; daughters, Sandra (David) Williamson of Hagerston, MD, Sharon (Cliff) Hoffman of Northfield, IL, Joy (Jeff) Bandoch of Taylors, SC, Sarah (Bruce) Marusich of Mt. Airy, MD, and Connie (Henry) Reimer of Minnetonka, MN; 19 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren with two on the way; twin sister, Jessie Gusman of Madison, WI; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William Kruit. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Iron River. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Fish to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to a mission of your choice or to the First Baptist Church.
