Edward J. Marcell

Edward J. Marcell, age 80, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born November 9, 1941 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Norman and Evelyn (Applin) Marcell. Edward attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the Class of 1959. He served in the Michigan National Guard. Edward married Diana Horne on June 22, 1963 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. The couple celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in 2021. He was employed as a tree trimmer for Asplundh Tree Service for 26 years. Edward was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Electrical Workers Union, and the NRA. He was also a member of the Mineral Hills Fire Department and then the West Iron County Fire Department, serving for 34 years. Edward spent a combined 37 years on the Village of Mineral Hills Council and the City of Iron River Council. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. Edward is survived by his wife, Diana; sons, Joseph and Dan Marcell, both of Iron River, MI; daughters, Dana (David) Murzyn of Two Rivers WI, Kelly (Tyler) Oliver of Lexington, KY, and Tricia Marcell of Iron Mountain, MI; brothers, Norman (Sandra) Marcell of Iron River, MI and William (Stephanie) Marcell of New Mexico; sisters, Mary Shepich of Caspian, MI and Elizabeth (Jim) Willis of Dixie, GA; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; special granddaughter Alexandra (Brent) Benson of Iron River, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
