Edward M. Vidas passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2012. He was born April 13, 1928 in Rogers Location, the son of the late Anton J. Isabel (Matkovich) Vidas. Edward attended the Bates School and graduated from Iron River High School, where he participated in Track. He married the former Mabel Stebic, together residing on Sunset Lake. They celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary in 2011. Edward served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and as a member of the Reserve Corps; he was again reactivated in the Korean War. He was a heavy equipment operator for the M.A. Hanna Company for 31 years. He was an active member of the Elks and a lifelong member of the American Legion Alfred Branchini Post #17. Edward enjoyed spending time at Sunset Lake and with his dog, Suzie. He is survived by his wife, Mabel ; daughters, Cheryl (Danny) Byczek, Faye (Michael) Porier, Claudia (Geron) Verville; son, David (Mary) Arcand; sister, AnnaMae (Domenic) Gugliotto; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Arcand. Private family services will be held, with burial in Resthaven Cemetery. West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
