Elaine D. Lekatz

Elaine D. Lekatz, age 90, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on April 18, 1929 in Crystal Falls, MI, the daughter of the late Paul and Sylvia (Lehtinen) Kochinsky.  She attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the Class of 1947. Elaine married Joseph Lekatz on June 2, 1948 at the Assumption Church in Iron River, and the couple made their home in Bates Township. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2008, before Joseph preceded her in death on November 23rd of that year. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River, and the St. Agnes Altar Society. She enjoyed cooking, reading, riding in the woods, watching nature, having friends over and especially being around family. Elaine is survived by her daughter, Aimee (Bradley Desotell) Lekatz; sisters, Paulette Blattler of Concord, CA, Marilyn Engebos of Iron River, MI, and Gladys Martin of Dayton, OH; and grandchildren, Autumn, Evan, and Lucas. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Paul Lekatz and Joseph L. Lekatz Jr.; daughter-in-law, Judy Lekatz; and sisters, Jenne Frye and Susan Snyder. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.  Funeral services will follow at 12pm with Deacon Robert Kostka to officiate.
