Elayne A. Spencer, age 96, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, MI. She was born on August 25, 1923 in Caspian, MI, the daughter of the late Clifford and Violet (Bedard) Goodman, Sr. She attended the Palatka, Gaastra, and Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1941. She then moved to Chicago, IL in July 1941, working there until 1947, when she returned to Iron River. Elayne married Garrod “Todd” Spencer on May 8, 1953 in Crystal Falls, MI, and the couple made their home in Iron River.  They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2003, before Todd preceded her in death on March 29, 2004. She worked for Dina Mia Kitchens for many years, retiring in 1995.  Elayne was a member of the Alfred Branchini Post #17 Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to see family in various states and memorable places.  She also enjoyed local dance halls where she and Todd made many lasting friendships.  Elayne is survived by her son-in-law, Carl VanDusen of Iron Mountain, MI; grandchildren, Shane, Elise, Chad (Lindsay), and Zackary (Cara) Sloden, and John VanDusen; great grandchildren, Marina, Parker, Preston and Pearson Sloden and James VanDusen; great-great grandchildren Tasos and Joanna; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Besides her parents and husband, Elayne was also preceded in death by her son, Fellow Sloden; daughter, Tracy VanDusen; brothers, Gerald and Clifford Goodman, Jr; and sisters, Gloria Hoinowski and Carrie Lemmon.  Private family services will be held.
