Elda B. Gollakner

Elda B. Gollakner, age 90 of Iron River, MI, died Monday January 12, 2009 at the Iron River Care Center, Iron River. Born: September 01,1918 in Duluth, MN The daughter of the late Ernest and Anna Johnson attended the Bates schools and after graduation attended secretarial school in Green Bay, WI. She was employed by the West Iron County School System, working as a secretary for 30 years. Elda married Fred Gollakner in 1936 and the couple made their home in Bates Township. He preceded her in death in 1986. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River and worked at the Iron County Museum and the Lee LeBlanc Art Gallery. She enjoyed gardening and needlepoint. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Johnson and a sister, Dorothy Kohtala. She is survived by four sons; Alan (Danielle) of Iron River Gerald (Sally) of Tampa, FL Russell (Myrna) of Amarillo, TX Donald of Iron River Two grandchildren and two great grandchildren Memorial Services will be held at a later date to be announced by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
