Eleanor E. Turcotte, age 99, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Iron River Care Center. Eleanor was born on February 11, 1919 in Stambaugh Township, MI; the daughter of the late Daniel and Edith (Tackmier) Montambo. She attended and graduated from the Stambaugh Schools, with the Class of 1935. She married Harlan Turcotte on December 5, 1935 in Iron River and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. The couple celebrated 62 wonderful years together, before Harlan preceded her in death in 1997. Eleanor was employed at the Schaffer Store in Iron River for many years. She was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a very talented bridge player. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Sally (Robert) King of University Park, FL and nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Dan Jr., Merell, Glenn and Robert Montambo; sisters, Mildred Briggs, Gertrude Baker, Esther Anderson, Rose Swanson, Alice Werner and Effie Solleire. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 1pm at Resthaven Cemetery in Iron River with Pastor Jason Liebenow to officiate.
