Elizabeth Ann Deneau, age 78, formerly of Iron River, MI, passed away Thursday April 25th, 2024. She attended the Iron River schools, graduating with the class of 1963. Liz was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. Liz’s talents and hobbies were many. She was an avid reader and extremely intelligent at accounting and crossword puzzles. Liz enjoyed escaping the harsh winters with her husband, Larry, to Foley, Alabama. She also enjoyed camping with her family, playing Mexican train with her grandchildren, taking them mini golfing and out for ice cream. She was an excellent cook and baker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Eleanor McRae and two brothers, Donnie (Janet) and David (Carolyn) McRae and sister, Marlene (Mike) Allen. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Larry L.; sister, Jackie Popko; two sons, Scott (Lori) Abata and Jeff (Jenny) Abata, Sarah Reis, David and Mary Deneau; grandchildren, Katie (David) Schroeder, Nickolas (Kira) Abata, Andrew, Michelle and Anthony Abata, Reece, Mazy, Tucker and Sylas Deneau, Alta Thuesen; great-grandchildren Sierra and Josiah Schroeder, Haliway and Camdyn Abata, Astraea Deneau, Eileithyia West, and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A Liturgy of the Word service will follow at 11 am with Fr. Daniel Fosu to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association.
