Elizabeth “Beth” Ann Djupe, 89, of Iron River, MI, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 3, 2026.
She was born on December 29, 1936, in Iron Mountain, MI, the daughter of the late Fredrick and Fern (Luba) Cowling. After graduating high school, Beth worked at the First National Bank in Iron Mountain.
Beth married Peter Djupe on October 5, 1957, at the First Methodist Church in Iron Mountain and moved to Iron River. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in 2025.
Beth worked for Viking Clog and was a clerk for the City of Stambaugh. She was an active member of Grace Covenant Church where she taught Sunday School, served with the Covenant Women, and sang both in the choir and with her beloved friends, the Joy Singers.
Her life’s work was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and any child that crossed her path. Beth’s hospitality brought many to her table for dinner or coffee on the patio at the lake. Her many interests included sewing, quilting, enjoying the flowers in her garden, watching and feeding the chickadees, and taking road trips with Pete on their motorcycle, often with friends.
Beth is survived by her husband, Peter Bond Djupe; daughters, Lynn (Jon) Wierda and Terri (Wayne) Sherwood, both of Iron River, MI; son, Tim (Francine) Djupe of Marquette, MI; grandchildren, Taylor (Joe) Marcum, Kirsta (John) Sawicki, Danielle Cunningham, Trevor (Amy) Mayo, Eric Wierda, Zack (Alexandra) Djupe, Tanner (Taylor) Mayo, David Djupe, Jacob (Amanda) Sherwood, Jessica Sherwood, Jenna (Jason) Camps, Piersan (Nathan) Williams, Tommy Suriano, and Juliette Suriano; great-grandchildren, Cole Cunningham, Alexis Cunningham, Kali Applin, Emma Sherwood, Aubree Keast, Nathan Camps, Avery Keast, Hershel Marcum, Sofia Elizabeth Sawicki, Annie Sawicki, Rylee Sherwood, Haylee Sherwood; brothers, Jack Cowling of Jackson, MI and Robert (Moira) Cowling of Iron Mountain, MI; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Fredrick and David Cowling.
Beth spent her final years at the Iron River Care Center where she was cared for with love and dignity. She will be missed and remembered for her big heart, infectious smile, and deep love for her family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Covenant Church in Iron River. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Poindexter to officiate.
