Elvira R. Mitchell

Elvira R. Mitchell, age 96, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on July 22, 1927, in Caspian, MI, the daughter of the late Louis and Elvira (Cristan) Franzoi. She attended the local schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School with the class of 1945. Elvira married Keith Mitchell on September 25, 1954, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, MI. The couple celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in 2013. Keith preceded her in death on March 31, 2014. She worked at Montgomery Wards as a bookkeeper from 1948 to 1958 and then was a teacher’s aide in the Learning Lab at West Iron County from 1969-1986. Elvira was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Society. She was an excellent cook and baker and loved being at home taking care of her family and home. She was also a superb crocheter. Elvira is survived by her daughter, Ann (Mark) Truax of Caspian, MI; daughter-in-law, Diane Mitchell of Pewaukee, WI; grandchildren, Megan (Christopher) Goetz, Adam (Jordan) Truax, and Laura Truax; great grandchildren, Cameron Oliphant, Anthony and Aaron Truax and Everly, Kane, and Jackson Goetz; nephews, Ray Margoni and Bruno (Nancy) Margoni; extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Louis Mitchell; brother, Bruno Franzoi; and sister, Anne Margoni. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Fosu to offer a Mass of Christian Burial.
