Emeline E. Sitkoski

Emeline E. Sitkoski, 89, of Iron River, MI, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born April 24, 1924 in Bates Township, Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Otto and Edna (Helgemo) Trybom. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1942, and then went on to Business College. She worked in Waukegan, IL for two years before returning to Iron River. On December 4, 1946, Emeline married Francis "Flash" Sitkoski at the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River where the couple made their home. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in 2007. Emeline was employed as a secretary at the Iron River High School and at the Phoenix Lumber Company. She was later employed as a secretary for Metropolitan Life for 17 years after raising her two children, prior to her retirement in 1983. Emeline was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River, Church Council, and the Priscilla Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband Flash on July 6, 2008; brothers, Ivar and Glenn Trybom; sisters, Lorraine Meyer and Adris Melchiori. Emeline is survived by her son, Geoffery (Debby) Sitkoski of Iron River; daughter, Gail Marie (Ron) Olson of Stillwater, MN; five Grandchildren, Shawn (Amy) Sitkoski, Kristy (Michael) Young, Dan Olson, Jeff (Beth) Olson, and Michelle Utin; nine great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held Monday, November 4, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church of Iron River with Rev. Bonny Kinnunen to officiate. Pallbearers are Shawn Sitkoski, Daniel Olson, Jeff Olson, Charlie Olson, Sam Olson, and Michael Young. Interment will be in Bates Township Cemetery, Iron River.
