Emil J. Sustek

Emil J. Sustek, 94, of Watersmeet, MI passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Iron River Care Center.

He was born on March 27, 1932, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Gizella (Jureak) Sustek.

Emil married Shirley Albrecht on June 29, 1957. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in 2023. Shirley preceded him in death on April 12, 2024.

He worked in a nursey and greenhouse. Emil was an animal lover and would rescue injured ones. He was also an avid reader and a World War II history buff.

Emil is survived by his sisters-in-law, Sharon (Richard) Norris of Illinois and Bernice Albrecht of Necedah, WI; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, William Albrecht, Edgar “Butch” Albrecht Jr., and Eugene Albrecht and sisters-in-law, Virginia Nykiel, Lou Klements, Jackie Duffy, and Emma Seery

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
