Emma L. Abrahamson

Emma L. Abrahamson Age 91 Iron River, MI died Friday, November 27, 2009 at Northstar Health System, Iron River. Born: May 26, 1918 in Stambaugh, MI The daughter of the late William and Bertha ( Ziebarth ) Heisel was a lifelong resident. She attended the Pioneer school in the Baumgartner district and Stambaugh High School. Emma married Gunnard Abrahamson on July 1, 1937 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Stambaugh, MI and the couple made their home in Stambaugh. They celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary in 1979. Gunnard preceded her in death on November 16, 1979. Emma owned and operated the Cottage Inn Restaurant in Iron River and also worked in various local restaurants for many years. She was known for her pies, cardamon bread and German potato salad. She was a lifelong active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Emma was a member of the Ladies Aide of the church. Most important in Emma's life was ""God's word"", family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Edna; brothers Albert, Walter and Martin; sister Irene Collins. She is survived by two daughters; Lois (Dean) Goodman of Iron River Elaine (Richard) Laakaniemi, Cedar Grove, WI Sister, Lucille Benson of Iron River Six grandchildren; Allen (Lorene) Goodman, Debbi Goodman, Lisa (John) Marita, Julie Laakaniemi, Amy (Michael) Sippert, Jennifer Noeldner. Fifteen great grandchildren; Hannah, Chelsea, Kylee, Zach and Alexandra Goodman, Megan, John E. and Andrew Marita, Zoe, Gunnard and Senja Sippert, Jonah, Sam, Isaiah, and Moriah Noeldner. Numerous nieces and nephews Visitation: Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Iron River. Funeral Service: Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Iron River, with Pastor Edward Starkey to officiate.
