Ernest Frank Gasperini, age 89 of Des Plaines, IL, formerly of Gaastra, died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at his home. Born: August 23, 1920 in Gaastra, MI The son of the late Frank and Palma (Borini) Gasperini attended the Gaastra and Stambaugh Schools. He served with the U.S. Army during WW-II and upon his honorable discharge, he moved to Chicago and worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for many years. He was later employed as a Stationary Engineer with the Michael Reese Hospital, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion Post #36 of Des Plaines, IL. Ernest was preceded in death by brothers, Albert, Olivio, Murico and Guido and sisters, Esther McGuire and Eva Lass. He is survived by his sister, Clara (Sam) Panebianco of Chicago, IL, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Visitation: Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River with the Rev. Norman Clisch to officiate. Interment: Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River. The West Side Veterans Council to accord Military Rites. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family in care of the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
