Ernest V. Kruzich, age 94, of Caspian, MI, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born June 21, 1922 in Caspian, MI the son of the late Peter and Genevieve (Shubat) Kruzich. He attended the Stambaugh High School, graduating with the Class of 1941. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II in the Asian Pacific Theater. He was employed as a draftsman in the electronics field for 34 years. He attended the St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River. He loved Ford V-8 cars and was a member of the Ford V-8 Club of America. A proud representative of his heritage, he was also a member of the Croation Fraternal Union. Ernest is survived by his sister, Wilma Hilberg of Iron River, nephew, Thomas (Lisa) Hilberg of Alpena, MI, and niece, Janet (Tim) McCann of Eleva, WI. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Peter, sister, Vera Otis, and brothers-in-law, Jake Hilberg, and Gale Otis. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at 10:45 a.m. and funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Aspirus Iron River Hospital.
