Ernest Rometti

Ernest R. Rometti, 87, of Iron River, MI, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. He was born November 29, 1925 in Iron River, MI, the son of the late Pio and Catherine (Antonetti) Rometti. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and was awarded two Bronze Battle Stars. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. Ernest married the former Helen E. Jonaus on April 13, 1953 and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2003. Helen preceded him in death on July 21, 2006. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and VFW Ottawa Post #3134 of Iron River. He loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Silvio and Herman and sisters, Emalinda Gasperini, Jenny Sartorelli, Ellen Treloar, and Esther Rodda. He is survived by his son, Bob Rometti (Susan Preziosa) of Lenexa, KS; daughters, Liz (Randy) Kosky of Bethel Park, PA and Kathy (Rick) Anthony of Temple, TX; brother, Rolland ""Rollie"" (Mildred) Rometti of Iron River; sister, Rose Dishaw of Iron River; grandchildren, Jason (Colleen) Kosky, Jenna Kosky, Travis (Mary Beth) Anthony, Erika Anthony, Dylan Anthony, Mary Rometti and Cathy Rometti; great grandchildren, Colby Anthony, Camryn Anthony and Jalo Kosky; nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, with Rev. Michael Ocran to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside. The family suggests memorial donations to the Iron County Cancer Unit, P.O.
