Esther Delaney

Esther DeLaney, age 87 of Cathedral City, CA, formerly of Iron River, MI, Died Saturday, December 13, 2008 in Cathedral City. Born: April 8, 1921 in Iron River, MI The daughter of the late Joseph and Santa Ponozzo grew up in the Gibbs City area and attended the Iron River schools, graduating from Iron River High School in 1939. She then attended beauty school in Detroit, MI and later owned and operated Eve and Esther's Beauty Salon in Iron River in the early 1940's. She moved to Washington in 1953 and later to California where she has resided since 1960. She was employed as a hairdresser in California for many years prior to retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband ""Dee"" DeLaney, two brothers, Rudy and Leonard and two infant sisters, Daisy and Esther. She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Don) Cross of Cathedral City Stepson, Keith DeLaney of Cathedral City Brother, Harvey (Elna) Ponozzo of Iron River Sisters, Vada Kostreva of Iron River Diane Ponozzo of Burbank, IL Sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Ponozzo of Iron River Phyllis Ponozzo of Iron River Two grandsons, Tyler and Cassey Cross Funeral services were held in California. Interment will be in the Spring at Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River. Local arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
