Esther Guzowski

Esther Guzowski, age 93, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born on June 8, 1927 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Reinhold and Hilda (Johnson) Erickson. She attended and graduated from the Iron River Schools, with the Class of 1945. She worked as bookkeeper for several automotive companies for over 35 years. Esther married Zigmund Guzowski on May 23, 1953 in Iron River, and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in 1997, before Zigmund preceded her in death on November 11, 1997. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River and the WELCA. Esther served as an organist at the church for many years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, working jigsaw puzzles, cooking, and spending quality time with family, especially her grandchildren. Regular Sunday dinners were her specialty. Esther is survived by her son, Raymond (Kathy) Guzowski of Crystal Falls, MI; daughters, Susan (Gregory) Edbauer of Kingsford, MI, and Sandra (Cheney) Carlson of Iron River, MI; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Erickson of Iron River, MI; nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Zigmund; stepson and daughter-in-law, Charles “Ted” and Marsha Guzowski; sister, Hazel Wysong; and brothers, Walter and Clarence Erickson. Private family services will be held. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
