Esther (Rometti) Rodda, most recently a resident of Pulaski, Wisconsin passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009 after a lengthy illness at Woodhaven Manor in Pulaski. She spent most of her life as a resident of the Village Mineral Hills, moving to Wisconsin several years ago, when her health required that she have the assistance of her daughter's family. The daughter of Catherine Antonetti and Pio Rometti she was born on June 12, 1920 in Loretto, Michigan. She was one of nine children. Esther married James ""Jim"" Rodda on August 14, 1937 at St. Agnes Church. They enjoyed 47 wonderful years of marriage until Jim's death on March 31, 1984. Esther's family was very proud of her when she returned to high school at the age of 52 to get her diploma and then further sought training as a certified nursing assistant. She thoroughly enjoyed the years that she worked at the Iron County General Hospital and took pride in her care of her patients and made many wonderful lifelong friends. Esther will be remembered as a fantastic cook, master knitter and crochetter, but mostly as a loving wife and mother. She took a lot of pride in her Italian heritage and passed on many traditions and recipes to her children and grandchildren that will be a part of her legacy. She is survived by her three children; William (Barbara) Rodda, John (Lori) Rodda and Mary (Les) Marlowe. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her siblings, Rose Dishaw, Ernest Rometti and Rolland (Mildred) Rometti, her sister-in-law, Joan Rometti and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James; two brothers, Herman and Silvio; three sisters, Jenny Sartorelli, Ellen Treloar, and Emalinda Gasperini. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, October 28th from 9:00-11:00 am at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River Michigan. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Agnes Church with the Reverend Father Norman Clisch presiding. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. Esther's family would like to thank, Unity Hospice, Elaine Moeller, Father Brendan and Father Patrick, Comfortkeepers, Woodhaven Manor, Dr. David Spika, Father Clisch and the many friends in Pulaski who did their best to make Esther feel as though it was her home.
