Ethlyn M. Melchiori

Ethlyn M. Melchiori, age 91, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 under the compassionate care of the Iron County Medical Care Facility. She was born on December 2, 1929 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, the daughter of the late Floyd and Thelma (Syer) Ellis. She attended the Sault Ste. Marie schools and graduated from Sault Area High School with the Class of 1947. Ethlyn married Marvin Melchiori on August 15, 1953 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. The couple made their home in Stambaugh, MI. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in 2017 in Caspian, MI and enjoyed wintering in Florida together for over 35 years. Marvin preceded her in death on February 10, 2018. She was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church and the Ladies Circle. Ethlyn enjoyed knitting and sewing and she was known for her wonderful cooking and baking. She would make coffee cake for events at the Iron County Museum. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lillian and Betty. Ethlyn is survived by her sons, Gerald (Cathy) Melchiori of Chatham, MI, Michael Melchiori of Caspian, MI, and James (Julie) Melchiori of Chassell, MI; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Mariam (Melchiori) Sorby and one brother-in-law, Mark Melchiori as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Private services will be held. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and cards, the family suggests memorial donations to the First Lutheran Church at 235 E. Genesee Street, Iron River, MI 49935.
