Eugene G. Stoychoff

Eugene G. Stoychoff, age 88, of Iron River, MI, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Iron River Care Center. He was born July 17, 1925 in Bates Township, MI, the son of the late Richard “Dick” and Lola (Konell) Stoychoff. He attended the Bates School and Iron River High School. He worked in the mines and was a self-employed logger for over 35 years. Eugene married the former Shirley Meyer on August 31, 1946 in Iron River, and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. He loved the outdoors, admired the NRA, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, and snowmobiling. He especially loved being around his grandkids. Eugene is survived by his daughters, JeanAnn (Charles) LaBelle of Marquette, MI, Donna (John) Hohensee of Iron River, and Bonnie (Richard) Weatherholt of Iron River; brother, George “Buzzy” Stoychoff of Iron River; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stoychoff of Green Bay, WI, Arlene Carne of Escanaba, MI, Dorothy Meyer of Iron River, and Yvonne Meyer of Iron River; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Patti Ann Stoychoff and Arlove Stoychoff-Howell; brothers, Glen, Arnold, Harley, and Marvin Stoychoff; sister, Marcia DeBrito.
