Eva N. MacDonald, age 91, Gaastra, MI passed away April 6, 2008 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. She was born on November 7, 1916 to Albert and Maria (Quagliotti) Carmine and lived her entire life in Gaastra until 2003, when she was admitted to the Iron County Medical Care Facililty. Eva attended the Stambaugh Public Schools, graduating in 1933. She went to work at the JC Penney Company for 12 years. Upon her marriage to Francis J. ""Mac"" MacDonald on August 20, 1949, she found employment with UPPCO next door. Eva and Mac were frequent lunchers at the Mertins Cafe for many years. In 1951 their beloved baby, Margaret Ann, was stillborn. Mac preceded Eva in death in January of 1981. Eva was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Edith (Ted) Oleksy and her brother Evo Carmine, a casualty of WWII. Eva was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Gaastra and a current member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian. For many years she devoted much time to decorating the church for the holidays. She will be remembered as an accomplished seamstress. Eva lived a life of steadfast faith. She had a very generous heart, and showed an unending devotion to her family. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by one brother, Peter Carmine of Gaastra Two nephews, Terry (Laura) Carmine of Homer Glen, IL Ken Carmine of High Springs, FL Two nieces, Marybeth (Jack) Harvey of DeBary, FL Susan (Douglas) Burns of Williamsburg, MI Four great nephews, Christian Carmine, Michael Carmine, Daniel Burns and Cameron Burns. Visitation: Tuesday April 8, 2008 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, MI. A liturgical prayer service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service: Wednesday April 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Norman Clisch, pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment: Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River.
