Evelyn L. Javoroski

Evelyn L. Javoroski, age 97, of Sobieski, WI, formerly of Iron River, MI, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021, in Suamico, WI She was born on April 12, 1924, in Bates Township, MI, the daughter of the late Nels and Signe (Bjorkman) Nelson. She attended the Iron River Schools, then earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University after raising her family. Evelyn married Rudolph “Rudy” Javoroski on June 14, 1941, in Iron Mountain, MI. The couple made their home in Bates Township. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in 1995. Rudy preceded her in death on April 25, 1996. She was employed as a librarian at the West Iron County Schools from 1978 to 1994. She was a member of the Iron River Bible Church and attended Graceway Fellowship of Green Bay, WI. She loved to cook and was known for baking pies, cakes, and pasties. Her first question to visitors was “What Can I fix you to eat?” She always had our favorite foods when we came home for a visit. To carry on her legacy are her daughters, Audrey Stanley of Sobieski, WI, Claudia Arvey-Jacobs of Shawano, WI, Merri Dupras of Sobieski, WI, and Gail (Rick) Colberg of Suamico, WI; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Nelson of Bates Township, MI; special niece, Alta Saari of Carlton, MN; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, William Javoroski; brothers, Robert and Harvey Nelson; and sisters, Virginia Nelson and Alice Volk. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Rick Schultz, of Graceway Fellowship Church of Green Bay, to officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery at a later date.
