Evelyn L. Anderson

Evelyn Laura Anderson, age 97 of Iron River, MI, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Northstar Health System, Iron River. Born: May 17, 1911 in Iron River, MI The daughter of the late Ole and Agnes (Nelson) Oss attended the Crystal Falls schools and graduated from Crystal Falls High School. She also attended and graduated from St. Therese Hospital School of Nursing in Waukegan, IL and worked in nursing for many years. Evelyn married Leo Anderson on November 6, 1930 in Woodstock, IL and the couple made their home in Gurnee, IL. In the early 1990's, the couple returned to Iron River to make their home. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 1997. Leo preceded her in death on August 10, 1998. Evelyn enjoyed people. She loved to shop and was known for her gardening and canning her produce. She was a member of the Grace Covenant Church of Iron River. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Finkel; four brothers, Norman, Peter, Harry, and Clarence; sisters, Mabel and Flora. She is survived by her son-in-law, Wayne Finkel of Lexington, KY Four grandchildren Four great grandchildren One sister, Mildred Schalla of Crystal Falls, MI A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
