Evelyn Tucker, 96, of Iron River, MI, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on April 25, 1928 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of the late Johan and Mabel (Nelson) Arntson. She attended and graduated from the Harding High School in St. Paul, with the Class of 1946. Evelyn married Jack C. Tucker on December 29, 1951 in St. Paul, MN. They made their home in Duluth, Minnesota before moving to Iron River, for his work. He preceded her in death in 2018. She was employed as the secretary at the First Lutheran Church for 46 years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Iron River. She enjoyed reading, knitting, cooking, watching cooking shows on TV, working at the church and at the Fortune Lake Bible Camp. She also volunteered at the Iron County Museum and the West Iron District Library and was the secretary of the hospital auxiliary and Community Concert Association for many years. Evelyn is survived by her sons, Gerald (Vickie) Tucker of Iron, MN and Steven (Sue) Tucker of Hurricane, UT; daughters, Sharon (Mike) Dedo of Iron River, MI, Barbara (the late Bob Fox) Tucker of Virginia, MN, and Carol (Bernie) Timbrook of Monroe, GA; sister, Genevieve Baumeister of Minnesota; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one-great-great-granddaughter; extended family and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Iron River. A memorial service will follow at noon with Vicar Lance Crevier to officiate. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Iron County Medical Care Facility for their care over the years and the staff at Aspirus Iron River.
