Dr. F. Bruce Monroe, age 90, Signal, Mt., TN, formerly of Iron River, MI died Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the Erlanger North Hospital, Chattanooga, TN. Born February 4, 1917 in Iron River, MI The son of the late John and Sarah (Poirrier) Monroe attended and graduated from the Iron River schools. Bruce graduated from the University of Chicago, received his medical degree and was later a board certified surgeon, practicing in Merrillville, IN. After his retirement, he lived in Las Cruces, NM. He later moved to Signal Mtn., TN to reside at the Alexian Village. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and John, and one sister, Margaret. Bruce enjoyed watching sports on TV especially football. He is survived by his special friends; Ila Martin, Signal Mtn. TN Zell Frickey, Denver, Colorado, and her children, Sally Coulahan, Zell Donnini, Frank Spellman, Tim Spellman, Mary Haeberle, Peggy Gerulski and their families and all his friends at Alexian Village. Visitation: Tuesday, August 21, 2007 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Services: Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Iron River with the Rev. Norman Clisch pastor to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The West Side Veterans Council will accord Military Rites. Interment: Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
