Fannie Sophie Gallup, 101 of Beechwood, MI, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Iron River Care Center, Iron River, MI. She was born February 16, 1922, in Iron River, Michigan, the daughter of John and Sophia (Hallberg) Waino. She graduated from Iron River High School in 1940. On February 17, 1940, she married Arnold Elsworth Gallup in Iron River. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2004. They moved to Beechwood in 1955 from Gaastra, MI. Fannie worked at the Coffee Cup in Beechwood for many years. She was known as the neighborhood babysitter to many. She enjoyed baking for family and friends. She always had plenty of food for everyone and loaves of bread for you to take home from her freezer. She had a heart bigger than life itself and had a hug for everyone she met. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Iron River, the Beechwood Historical Society, and the Friendly Neighbor’s Club of Beechwood. She is survived by her two sons, Robert Gallup of Beechwood, and Gary (Carol) Gallup of L’Anse, MI; five grandchildren; Nancy (Monty) Larson of Ladysmith, WI, Sheri (Dean) Doney of Wakefield, MI, Rick (Lisa) Robinson of South Carolina; Shawn (Altijana) Gallup of Illinois, and Lee Gallup of L’Anse; great-grandchildren, Kristi (Tyler) Talley, Craig Bladow, Breann (Austin) Ellias, Rebeka (Tony) Bresette, Isabella and Alivia Robinson, Shawn Jr. and Shane Gallup, and Savanna and James Gallup; great-great-grandchildren, Austin, Tavia, Thatcher, and Macie, Nash and Drake, and Ridge; great-great-great-grandson, Ryker; and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Robinson; her granddaughter, Kelly Jo Robinson; and her siblings, John, Olaf, Theodore, Toivo, and Leonard Waino, Sylvia Perry, and Martha Dams. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Iron River. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Charles Sheffler to officiate. Inurnment will be in the Stambaugh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Beechwood Historical Society, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, or the St. Paul’s Ladies Aide.
