Felix H. Margoni, age 93, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018. He was born on June 6, 1925 in Caspian, the son of the late Max and Alice (Tessadri) Margoni, Sr. He graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1943. Felix served his country in the US Navy during World War II from 1943 until his honorable discharged in 1946. On March 22, 1945, his ship was torpedoed by a German submarine in the North Sea. He and others clung to a life raft for nine hours before being rescued. He suffered burns and injured his ankle. Felix was awarded the Purple Heart Medal as well as the American Campaign Medal, the European-African Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal. Felix married June Ann Olson in December 1947 and the couple made their home in Caspian. They celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary in 1984. June preceded him in death on August 13, 1985. He was employed for MA Hanna, then as a machinist for DA MacPherson Inc. He loved being in the woods at his camp where he hunted deer, bear and partridge. He was an expert gun collector of old rifles and shotguns. He was also a truly devoted Detroit Lions fan. Felix is survived by his sons, James (Jimmi Sue) Margoni of Dallas, Gerald (Gigi) Margoni of Houston, his sister-in-law, Rhoda Melgaard of Algoma, WI, special friend, Marie White of New Bern, NC, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his brothers; Dan, Angelo, and Max Jr. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 from 9:30 to 11:00 am at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 am with Rev. Michael Laakko to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, with the West Side Veterans to accord Military Rites at the graveside.
