Fletcher C. Monningh

Fletcher C. Monningh, age 80, of Crystal Falls, MI, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022, at the VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. He was born on January 21, 1942, in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of the late C. Maxwell Monningh and Blanche E. (Stebbins) Monningh. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an older brother, Jan S. Monningh. Fletch graduated from Ionia High School, with the Class of 1960 and went on to attend and graduated from Michigan State University. Fletch then served in the United States Army with the Military Police in Germany and after his discharge, attended the Detroit Metropolitan Police Academy. He was employed by the State of Michigan for 28 years, primarily as a Conservation Officer. In later years, he worked on a part-time basis for the Iron County Sheriff, the Crystal Falls Police Department, and as a real estate broker for Century 21 Goodwood. During his school age years, Fletch was very active with the Ionia Boy Scouts and was the youngest Eagle Scout in the area. He was a life member of the N.R.A. and the North American Game Warden Association. Fletch was also a member of The American Legion Reino Post 21 and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed traveling, motorcycling, fishing, hunting, spending time at camp and with his dogs. He was a longtime motorcycle enthusiast, taking many trips across the United States, and at one time was the oldest motorcycle police officer in Michigan. He was a lifelong animal advocate and spent many hours observing wildlife even after retirement. Fletch is survived by his significant other of 25 years, Karen Anderson, his twin sister, Candace Monningh Goodyear of Charlottesville, VA; the Anderson families, sister-in-law, Carlotta Monningh, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
