Florence Sharrow

Florence V. Sharrow, 88, of Iron River, MI, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Northstar Health System, Iron River. She was born September 15, 1924 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Wiilus and Helmi (Mord) Wiitaniemi. A 1942 graduate of Iron River High School and Iron River Business School, she left Iron River to work in North Chicago, IL, at the Tantalum Defense Plant in data processing. She later worked at Fansteel in their data processing .In 1953, she began working for Jonns Manville Products in Waukegan, IL, working in customer service in the building products department for 23 years prior to her retirement in 1976. She was employed as a sales Consultant for many years. Florence married Jocob Kymala and he preceded her in death. She married Frank ""Buddy"" A. Sharrow on January 1, 1952 in Waukegan, IL, and the couple made their home in Winthrop Harbor and Zion, IL and Kenosha, WI, before moving to Iron River in 1988 to make their home. She held the various positions of secretary, treasurer, vice president and president , and editor of the Lake Country Women 's Industrial Management Association (of business). She was secretary treasurer of a division of the Y.M.C.A. in Lake County, IL and also President of the Lake County Writers Group in Waukegan, IL. Florence was a member and council member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Stambaugh. She enjoyed reading and gardening, and loved her boxer dogs. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank of 53 years, who passed away in 2005. Florence is survived by her son, Jon Michael (Marilyn) Kymala of Shelby Township, MI, daughter, Cheri Ann Dower of Iron River, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews . Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August, 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
