Floyd Nordstrom

Floyd Nordstrom, age 90, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019. He was born on April 3, 1929 in Iron River, MI, the son of the late Walter and Irene (Monhead) Nordstrom.  He attended the Iron River Schools.    Floyd married Frances O’Connor on February 7, 1948 in Iron River.  The couple made their home in Iron River and celebrated 70 wonderful years together.  Frances preceded him in death on February 22, 2018.    He was a self-employed logger for over 50 years.  Floyd faithfully attended the First Baptist Church in Iron River.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, logging, playing the accordion, and handing out candy. Floyd was a very social person, introducing himself as the “Mayor of Beechwood” and he loved his tractors and heavy equipment.  Floyd is survived by his son, Richard (Patti) Nordstrom of Iron River, MI; daughters, Loretta Willison of Iron River, MI, Carol Nordstrom of Elkhart, IN and Lea Ann (Gary) White of Long Lake, WI; eight grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 11 great, great grandchildren; brothers, Marshall (Marge) Nordstrom, James (Lori) Nordstrom, and Joseph (Debra) Nordstrom, all  of Iron River, MI; sisters, Shirley Lambert of Iron River, MI , Patsy Prepodnik of Green Bay, WI, and Karen Potter of Mishawaka, IN; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ronald Willison; grandsons, Randy Willison and Bobby Nordstrom; great grandson, Ty Nordstrom; brothers, Ralph, Lyle, Lauren, Donald, Marvin, and Ronald Nordstrom; and sisters, Margaret Salzeider and Joan Maki.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River and Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 9:00 to 9:45am at the First Baptist Church in Iron River.  Funeral services will follow at 10am at the First Baptist Church in Iron River with Pastor John Fish to officiate.  Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Beechwood, MI.  To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Floyd Nordstrom, please visit our flower store.
