Floyd Elwood Stapleton, age 94, of Alvin, WI, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born October 31, 1923 in Powell County, Kentucky, the son of the late Levi and Liza Jane (Day) Stapleton. He attended school in Kentucky. Floyd married the former Elma Spencer on January 20, 1945 in Alvin, WI, and the couple resided in Peru, Indiana where he was employed as a machine operator for Square D Company, until his retirement in 1982. The couple then returned to Alvin to make their home. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in 2001 and Elma preceded him in death on November 4th of that year. He was a member of the Little White Church of Alvin, and was an avid outdoorsman. Floyd is survived by his numerous loving nieces, nephews and extended family. He was known to his family as the Greatest Uncle Ever! In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Courtney, Ferris, Ray, Chester, Green, Jo-Siephus and Wayne Stapleton; and sisters, Rita Darrell and Evie Dennison. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Little White Church in Alvin, WI. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Della Rosenow and Pastor Bryan Darrell to officiate. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Alvin, WI.
