Floyd ""Bud"" A. VanWagner Age 86 Iron River, MI Passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. He was born January 8, 1926 in Iron River, MI, the son of the late Floyd and Stella (Saxon) VanWagner. He attended the Iron River Schools. Bud served his country in the Marine Corps during World War II. He worked in the local mines from 1947 to 1971. He and Mary Ann were owners of the Violet Ray Laundromat. From 1971 to 1974 he was a fireman and also Director of Public Safety. Bud retired in 1990 from the City of Iron River as Police Chief. Bud married the former Mary Ann Knapp on August 19, 1950 in Watersmeet, MI and the couple made their home in Iron River. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this past August. Bud was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, the VFW, the American Legion, and the Elks. He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and being at deer camp. He was also an avid gardener but his favorite pastime was tying flies. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann VanWagner Sons, Gary VanWagner Tom (Janet) VanWagner Brian VanWagner Kevin VanWagner Daughter, Cheryl (Keith) Brey Brother, Ralph (Rosie) VanWagner Sister, Anna Mae Misoni Grandchildren, Scott, Joe (Lisa), Karla VanWagner, Marybeth Brey, Melissa (Gregg) Collard, Andrew and Nicholas VanWagner Great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Anders Collard and Gabriel and Madison VanWagner He was also preceded in death by a brother Marvin Van Wagner. Visitation: Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Friday, October 5, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment: Friday, October 12, 2012 at Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River with the West Side Veterans to accord Military Rites at the graveside.
