Frances “Frenchy” M. Gajewski, age 92, of Gaylord, MI, formerly of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire, MI. She was born on December 28, 1926 in Green Bay, WI, the oldest child of the late Cecil and Edith (Hebert) Hibbard. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1945. Frenchy married Roman F. Gajewski on July 3, 1948 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River, where they made their home until moving to Milwaukee, WI then Gaylord, MI. The couple returned to Iron River in 2007 and also celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary that year. Roman preceded her in death on April 27, 2008. She was employed as a waitress at several local restaurants, including the Iron Inn, the Roma Café, and Happy Italians. Frenchy and Roman enjoyed the restaurant business and even opened up their own restaurant, The Cottage Inn. She had a friendly and outgoing manner, always leaving customers with a smile. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Frenchy enjoyed dancing with Roman, gardening, going to the beach and the casino, and driving her convertible. Frenchy is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Rick) Trever of Elmira, MI; son, Steve Gajewski of Michigan; grandchildren, Rachel Olds and Joseph Trever; great grandchildren, Megan, Morgan, and Mason Olds, Joseph Trever, and Lonnie Rae; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James and Arthur Hibbard and sister, Sally Ann Pangrazzi. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
