Frank E. Turbessi

Frank E. Turbessi, age 89, of Gaastra, MI, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation, Kingsford, MI. He was born May 20, 1926 in Gaastra, MI, the son of the late Biagio and Margherita (Carobini) Turbessi. Frank married the former Angelina Mari on February 16, 1952 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Iron Mountain, and the couple made their home in Gaastra. They celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in 2000. Angelina preceded him in death on August 25, 2000. He was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, the Sons of Italy, and a Steel Worker for M.A. Hanna Mining Company for 39 ½ years. He enjoyed oil painting, carpentry, hunting, and fishing. Frank is survived by his son, Robert Mark (Debra J.) Turbessi of Kingsford, MI; daughter, Margaret (Brian) Simbob of Kingsford, MI; grandchildren, Jacob, Jillian, and Jonah Turbessi, and Julie and Janice Simbob; and seven great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother Primo (Ethel) Turbessi, and sister, Gina Turbessi. Private family services will be held. Interment will be in Nicolet Memorial Gardens, Green Bay, WI.
