Frank Widas Jr. Age 88 Iron River, MI Died Friday, March 23, 2012 at Northstar Health System, Iron River. Born October 21, 1923 in Yugoslavia The son of the late Frank and Helen (Polich) Widas attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the Class of 1941. He then attended the McDonough School of Business for two years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. After returning from the service, he worked at the Commercial Bank of Stambaugh and later worked for the local mines for 34 years, until the Groveland Mine closed. Frank married the former Carole Anderson on December 13, 1952 at St. John 's Episcopal Church of Iron River and the couple made their home in Stambaugh. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in 2011. Frank was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, Holy Name of St. Cecilia, American Legion Reino Post #21, Progressive Men of Caspian, and Past President of the Croatian Lodge., He was an avid trumpet player, playing for the Army Band, Caspian Band and Leo Pisoni 's Modernaires. He loved his family, his two Chihuahuas, and the Chicago Bears. He was preceded in death by his great grandson, Cameron Lewis, two brothers-in-law, Robert Anderson and Lester Manfrom, and sister-in-law, Mary Carne. He is survived by his wife, Carole Daughters, Debbie Williams (Doug Brey) of Caspian Donna (Glenn) Dobson of Iron River Sisters-in-law, Mary (David) Scalcucci Eloise Manfrom Grandchildren, Angie (Mike) Greenlund Lisa (Joe) Lewis Jenna Dobson Jake Dobson Great grandchildren, Nick, Tyler and Kyle Greenlund Caiden and Ariah Lewis Jaiden Dobson Cousin, Sally (Roger) Linna Private family services will be held.
