Franklin A. Porter

Franklin A. Porter, age 80, Iron River, MI died Monday, July 14, 2008 at his home in Stambaugh Township. Born May 13, 1928 in Pontiac, MI The son of the late Russell and Barbara Porter attended the Iron River schools and graduated. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Frank married the former Lottie Strowske in 1948 in Germany while in the service. Following his honorable discharge after 10 years of service, the couple returned to the Iron River area and were lifelong residents. Frank loved cooking and spending time with family and friends. Prior to his retirement , he liked to hunt and fish, and enjoyed working on cars and learning about technology. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Maria Herzberg. He is survived by his wife, Lottie Sons, Norbert Porter of Iron River Rainer Herzberg of Iron River Brother-in-law, Erwin Herzberg of Iron River Cousin, Bill (Marcella) Hooper of Iron River Private family services will be held.
