George F. Erickson

George “Barney” F. Erickson, age 71, of Merritt Island, FL, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Hospice of Health First, with family by his side. He was born on June 14, 1947 in Stambaugh, MI; the son of the late George and Harriet (Svenson) Erickson. He attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the Class of 1966. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War from 1968-1969.          Barney married Sherry Bomaster on December 23, 1967 at Grace Covenant Church in Stambaugh. The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary last year.    He was a self-employed estate manager for 30 years. He enjoyed photography, listening to music, and enjoying the outdoors. Barney is survived by his wife, Sherry; daughters, Liisa (Wendie) Snow of Gainsville, FL, Jolene (Trevor) Haggard, and Georgian Erickson, both of Merritt Island, FL; grandson, Gavin Haggard; brother, Tom (Sharon) Erickson of Cambridge, WI; sister, Carol (Kenneth) Will of Milwaukee, WI; extended family and friends.  A Graveside service will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 1:30 pm at Stambaugh Cemetery with Richard Bomaster to officiate.  The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.   To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of George F.
