George A. Treado, age 79 of Iron River, MI, died Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. Born: November 24, 1930 in Republic, MI The son of the late George and Verna (Gjers) Treado attended the Iron River schools, graduating from Iron River High School in 1949. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS Albany. He was employed as a meter reader by Wisconsin Electric for many years, George married the former Diane Gallup on July 6, 1951 at the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2001. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River, the Masonic Lodge and the Iron River Fire Department. He served as Iron County Commissioner and on the City Board of Iron River, He loved sports. He is survived by his wife, Diane Son, Glen (Sue) Treado of Crivitz, WI Daughter, Linda (Al) Cross of Broken Arrow, OK Brother, Robert (Pat) Treado of Beechwood, MI Three grandchildren; Joshua Christensen Lindsey Treado Melissa LaFountain One great grandchild, Nolan LaFountain Nieces, nephews and extended family He was also preceded in death by his twin brother Vernon and two grandchildren, Samuel and Jessica Christensen. Visitation: Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Iron River. A Masonic Lodge of Sorrow Service will be conducted at 5:45 p.m. Members of the Iron Range Firefighters Association will attend the visitation at 6 p.m. Funeral Service: Friday, June 18, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Iron River, with Rev. Dawn Treado Green to officiate. Interment: Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River The West Side Veterans Council will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
