George Wickstrom

George Axel Wickstrom Age 76 Iron River, MI Passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at Northstar Health System, Iron River. He was born October 16, 1936 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Dr. Axel and Stella (Westerberg) Wickstrom. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School. Following graduation, he attended one year of college and enlisted in the US Army on December 6, 1955. George married the former Sharon Olds and the couple made their home in Stambaugh Township. George was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River. An avid outdoorsman, he truly loved the outdoors. He enjoyed trapping, trap shoot, golf, softball, bowling and guns. He especially loved his puppy Petie and his pet fox. He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Mike) Mastie; sons, Allan (Lisa) Wickstrom and Jim (Margo) Wickstrom; grandsons, John Mastie, Bradley Wickstrom and Alex Wickstrom; nieces, Karen Miller and Cathy Thomas. He preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Krystal Wickstrom; and sisters, Nancy Viverito, Ann Anderson and Carol Wickstrom. Graveside services will be held at Stambaugh Cemetery in the Spring. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
