Gerald ""Jerry"" G. Losey Age 77 Chicagoan Lake, Stambaugh Twp., MI Died June 12, 2011 at the Marquette General Hospital, Marquette, MI. He was born June 11, 1934 in Weidman, MI, the son of the late Gilbert and Sarah Estelle (Hackett) Losey. Jerry married the former Reva Steinley in 1955 and the couple moved to Iron County in the 1980's where they owned and operated Losey's Landing Supper Club on Chicagoan Lake. Reva preceded him in death in 1986. He later married the former Shelly Sarafiny Ghiggia December 11, 1990 in Iron River and the couple continued the operation of the Supper Club until retiring from the restaurant business, where he continued tending bar at the George Young Recreational Complex. Jerry actively promoted Iron County and was always appreciative of those he served and entertained. Jerry was a respected business man and a fixture in Iron County community life. He was active in politics; he served as Trustee of Stambaugh Township, Iron County Commissioner, Iron County Fair Board, Chairman of Iron County Democratic Party and in 2003, was named Democrat of the Year. He also served on numerous organizational committees related to the Hospital, Rodeo, Fair and Snowmobile clubs. Prior to the restaurant business, Jerry was active in the UAW and employed by AC Sparkplug and Wisconsin Toy & Novelty. He was a director of the DORT Federal Credit Union and Chairman of its building committee. In 1960 Jerry was active in JFK 's campaign for presidency in Genesee County. Jerry was also President of the Chicagoan Lake Association for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, snowmobiling, boating on the area lakes and enjoyed music and dance. He was preceded in death by brothers Duane and Roger Losey and brother-in-law Chauncey Rood. He is survived by his wife, Shelly Sons; Darrell (Cynthia) Losey of Houston, TX Dennis (Laurie) Losey of Clio, MI Eric Ghiggia of Chicagoan Lake Nick (Chelsey) Ghiggia of Iron River Daughters; Vicky Losey of Iron River Laura (Nick) Ghiggia of Green Bay, WI Brothers; Mike (Jacquie) Losey of Burton, MI Rick (Jane) Losey of Weidman, MI Sisters; Norene Rood of Mt. Morris, MI Sharon (Zack) Zakariasen of North Branch, MI Bonnie Anderson of Davidson, MI Sister-in-Law, Sue Losey of Swartz Creek, MI Five Grandchildren; Ryan, Eric and Jason White, Nicholas Losey and Alexzander Ghiggia. Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family Visitation: Thursday, June 16th from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Memorial Services: June 16th at 1 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Jeffery Kurtz to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be to the Chicagoan Lake Association Preservation Fund (for eradication of Eurasian Milfoil). Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
