Gerald F. Wilkins

Gerald F. Wilkins, age 77 of Crystal Falls, MI, died Friday, January 1, 2010 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital, McAllen, TX. Born May 30, 1932 in Dearborn, MI The son of the late Fred M. and Lenore (Retz) Wilkins attended and graduated from Ferndale High School, Ferndale, MI. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and after his honorable discharge was employed as a switchman for the telephone company for over 39 years, retiring in 1993. Gerald married the former Lynne D. Nikitin in May, 1957 in Angola, IN, and the couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2007. He was a member of the American Legion. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He is survived by his wife, Lynne Son, Fred Wilkins of Cross Plains, WI Daughter, Joanne (Dennis) Whitley of Marquette, MI Brothers; James Wilkins of Hillman, MI Thomas Wilkins of Hillman, MI Sister, Donna (Houston) Brown of Lansing, MI Granddaughter, Lane Whitley Nieces, nephews and extended family He was also preceded in death by his brother Richard Wilkins. Graveside services will be held at Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River, MI, in the spring with the West Side Veterans to accord Military Rites.
