Geraldine H. Rhino

Geraldine H. Rhino, 94, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Aspirus Hospital in Iron River on Thursday, May 5, 2022. She was born on April 22, 1928, in Newald, WI to Beatrice (Martyn) and George Horn. She was the youngest of eight children. She grew up in Bates and graduated from Iron River High School with the class of 1946. On April 11, 1947, she married Lloyd Rhino in Iron River, MI. They celebrated 45 years of marriage before his death in September of 1992. She was an instrumental member of the Iron County Artists Association for many years. Her specialty was restoring old Christmas ornaments. There were many things that she restored over the years-she enjoyed it and was very good at it. She had quite a lovely collection. In later years, she enjoyed sitting on her porch and watching the wildlife—her birds especially, with her cup of coffee. Geri is survived by her sons, Lee (Chris) and Scott (Cherie), both of Iron River, MI; daughter, Kathy (Steve) Jungwirth of Omro, WI; grandchildren, Mike (Jill) Pernaski of Omro, WI, Katilee Rhino of Omro, WI, Roger (Lexi) Carne of Iron River, MI; three great grandchildren, Miranda, Michael, and Karlee Pernaski; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents; brothers, Pat, Omar, Bob, and Dick Horn; sisters, Eleanor Stetz, Caroline Mathey, Lillian Bey, and an infant sister; and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Rhino.
