Geraldine “Gerry” (Applin) Schober, age 90, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 31, 1930 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Ann (O’Connell) Applin. She attended the Iron River schools, graduating with the Class of 1948. Gerry married Adlore “Joe” Schober on September 11, 1948 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. They raised their four children and celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in 2017. Joe preceded her in death on May 28, 2018. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She enjoyed solving word puzzle books, tending to her rock garden, and spending time with her family. Gerry and her husband moved back from Milwaukee to take care of her ailing mother, as well as, to raise her family. She took care of her husband for many years due to illness and disabilities. She was always there for family members who needed her help. Gerry is survived by her daughter, Chris (Lee) Rhino and son, Joseph (Jeannie) Schober, both of Iron River; youngest daughter, Kathy Carpenter of Pensacola, FL; sisters-in-law, Betty Applin and Lorraine Applin; grandchildren, Heidi (Jim) Bradley and Holly (AJ) Higdon, both of Green Bay, WI, Troy (Ashley) Schober of Gaastra, MI, Wesley (Sarah) Schober and Cory (Megan) Schober, both of Marquette, MI, Joey (fiancé Kriss Ann) Schober of California, and Patrick (Courtney) O’Brien of Pensacola, FL; great grandchildren, Josh, Ashley, Taylor, Victor, Reuben, Ava, Stella, Chloe, Sean, and Shelby; great great grandson, Dakota; numerous nieces and nephews; special nieces, Sharon Smith, Susan Vecellio, and Mary Kay Shepich; special neighbors, Tanya and Darren Kurtz; extended family, friends, and special grand-dog, Riley She was also preceded in death her oldest daughter, Sandy Plog of DePere, WI; brothers, Thomas, Glenn, LeRoy, William, Bernard, Edward, Roland, Manch, Arthur, Dale, and Ben Applin; and sisters, Evelyn Marcell, Fern Marcell, Vera Paraventi, and Maude Machalk.
