Gertrude ""Gert"" V. Autio, age 95 of Iron River, MI, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. Born March 5, 1912 In Iron River, MI The daughter of the late William and Maria (Syynimaa) Wehvila attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School in 1930. Gertrude married Arthur Autio on July 1, 1934 in Iron River and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. She was employed as a secretary at the Fred Murphy Law Office and later at the First Lutheran Church. Her family was her whole life. She was an avid card player and enjoyed playing piano, and working jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. She was also preceded in death by her husband Arthur and a sister, Vienna Phillips. She is survived by her son, Donald (Kay) Autio of Iron River, MI Daughters, Carol (Willard) Olson of Iron River, MI Sandra Spears of New Rochelle, NY 7 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren Visitation: Saturday, May 26, 2007 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, MI. Funeral Services: Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, MI, with the Rev. Bonny Kinnunen to officiate.
